Maritime transport glossarye
B/L, Bill of Lading : bill of lading, freight. It is the document materializing the maritime transport contract concluded between the shipper and the maritime carrier. Without it you cannot pick up your vehicle at the port of arrival.
THC, Terminal Handling Charge : represents the handling charges at the port of loading and unloading.
BAF, Bunker Adjustment Factor: Tax used to compensate for variations in fuel prices (shipping).
CAF, Currency adjustment factor : This tariff surcharge corresponds to fluctuations in the rate of the dollar. The vast majority of maritime freight rates being calculated in US dollars, the companies cover themselves against exchange risks thanks to this surcharge.
